First off I want to apologize to you, my friends, for my inconsistency with writing lately. Some weeks I write 2 or 3 blogs and the next it’s none.

I want to be real with you all. Giving you yet another piece of my heart. Another chapter in this journey, this story God is writing in and through me. God is the Author of each of our lives. We all have a story to share. We all have a journey to experience and grow in. Don’t be afraid to share. Don’t be afraid to let others in on your journey no matter how crazy, wild, boring or unimportant you may think it feels.

This has been a difficult season for my husband and I, for our family. From surgery, illness, work struggles, spiritual warfare, trying to figure out parenting a toddler, pregnancy and so on. There has been sweet joys and disappointment. Scattered dreams and laughter. Pain and healing. Growth and setbacks.

Some days my head just spins. Overwhelmed. Out of control.

Opening my eyes after a night of rest, I just want to close them again. The day seems intimidating. Laying still in the dim morning sunlight, fatigue swarms the body before feet hit the floor.

Why can’t I trust what I know to be true? Why can’t I let go and have faith? Why doesn’t His past faithfulness overwhelm my heart instead? Since I was a young girl I knew God loved His children and cared for them. Experience has shown this to be one hundred percent true. Yet this morning I could not hold onto that promise.

Why does it seem so difficult sometimes to believe God?

Pondering these thoughts today I am reminded of the book of Daniel. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego did not stand in front of the king with questioning faith. They did not let fear overwhelm them as the flames roared in the furnace. What did they do? How did they react?

Daniel 3:16-18 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” NIV

Wow! Isn’t that something? At the face of death they respond, “the God we serve is able to deliver us.”

Instead of letting fear enter. Instead of holding onto an overwhelmed mind I want to trust. To say what those three men declared. To walk in faith, “My God is ABLE to deliver me.” It’s not a matter of He might be able or He could. No! Absolutely, He is ABLE!

Hold onto that promise today. Repeat it over and over until you feel it sticking with you. “My God is able.”
