My dear friends, it has been too long away. It has been a crazy season between a difficult 1st trimester, my dad’s ongoing cancer, and writing a book. Yes, a book. Ten years ago I felt God wanted me to write a book and I was finally given a vision for it. Look for updates coming soon.

Through this process, I have been going through some old writings, mostly poems. I found one I wanted to share with you today.

People come, People go, People do, People say

In a day, We can get so wrapped

Caught in a cycle of, She said, He did

What do they think of me?

We are seeking the wrong counsel

We are asking the wrong questions

In a day, Our focus caught, In His embrace

God said, Jesus did

What does my Lord think of me?

So often we get caught up in what others may think or not think of us. I know you people pleasers out there really feel me on this one. We go about our day asking the wrong questions. Asking for the approval of those around us. First, always go to your heavenly Father. What He says is best. What He does is our example. We can not find a clear map or perfect person here on earth to follow.

Wise counsel and advice are good in big decisions, but only when we come to Him first. We can be easily lead astray by the thoughts and feelings of the culture around us. However, our steady, unchanging, unconditionally loving God will always lead on solid ground. He will not lead us to sinking sand.

Before you talk to that person or your people submit your questions to God first. Give Him your heart of questions, worries, and fears. He doesn’t need a neat package of thoughts and emotions. Just look at the life of David and the psalms he wrote. Even David, a man after God’s own heart, messed up but he asked God first. He asked God before any battle was declared. He trusted God even when the king was chasing him and the plan seemed to be falling apart.

In that decision you are trying to make, have you talked with God yet? Have you sought His counsel, direction, and peace?

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33 ESV

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

Let us, therefore, come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16NKJV
