Needing to stuff one more thing into my overloaded hands I resorted to the armpit. Tucking her little pajamas under my arm I walked with the load into her bedroom. Seeing her pj’s just hanging there she immediately pulled them out.

As soon as she got them into her soft little hands she stuffed the pajamas under her arm and proceeded to walk around the room and house like this.

Doing what mommy does is her new game, her new way of exploring the world. It both makes me smile with joy and feel the tauntings of fear.

I love that she is learning, growing. I love that she wants to do things that mommy does. However, when I really stop and think, it terrifies me. I am flawed. I mess up…a lot. And I am the one she is learning from…yikes!

The thing is I am an imperfect human being yet I do have access to the holy power of Jesus Christ…if  I just ask. God wants to make His strength alive in us. And better yet He wants us to point our kids to Him. Seeing our weakness and imperfection is not a bad thing. It causes us to turn, call and lean on a strength greater, a strength not our own.

Don’t be afraid to watch your children follow you, mimic you. Let them learn. Let them grow and turn them to Jesus. Let them see His example. Give them the gift as they grow and mature to follow Jesus. Turn from stuffing pj’s under their arm to tucking His strength in their hearts.

It’s a beautiful God design. Parenthood.

We are not alone in this journey. We can trust Him on this road of ups and downs. God’s got us! He loves us most. He loves us best!
