There is something tender, precious about a child curling their little body in your lap. Something almost magical happens as the small frame chooses your lap to dwell in even if it is only a moment.

All morning my daughter continually found my lap her home. She would plop on me with books to discover, puzzles to tackle, and when something wasn’t going right. The toy was not cooperating. She fell and hurt her hand. Everything. Anything. Nothing too small or too large to come to my lap with.

What a sweet reminder this child has brought to my heart this morning. The reminder that I too have One I can plop my heart into. I have One who desires my affection. I have One who cares about it all. Nothing too small, too large or too silly.

God cares about us even more. God cares and wants as to bring all to Him. Our latest discoveries (even if it is just that we conquered the Kerig). Our puzzles…the things we don’t understand, the situations we are confused about. And of course, when we have a problem or a need. God wants to hear it all. God wants you in His lap.

One way we can sit in His lap is by opening His Word. We don’t have the experience of physically sitting in God’s lap, however, He did give us A Book. A physical book that we can open again and again for comfort, strength, wisdom. Every care, every need can be brought to His lap in prayer and through time in the Word.

We are precious to our Father in Heaven just as our little ones are special to us.

Sit with Him today. Plop right into His lap and tell Him…He is listening!
