She cries in her car seat furious all because she wants her pacifier. What she could not see was that I was trying to get it for her.
Pulling at my pants. Screaming all because she wants food and she wants it now! What she cannot see is that above her I am cutting and plating her food.
Placing her hand in mine, she gets upset all because she wants to do it on her own. What she cannot see is the danger ahead…the steps or uneven ground.
Life as a one-year-old. Only a small glimpse of the big world. A life lived in a pixel rather the thousands. The unseen. Undiscovered.
As adults, we know a little more, however, are we that different? Do we not get caught in traps of focusing on the speck rather than the big picture? Are there not days when we cannot see ahead or even around us?
We may not cry and scream anymore. We may not throw our feet in the air at the grocery store or throw our plate across the room. Adult fits are different. We bit back with words. We ignore, isolate, or find revenge. We take our hurts and spew them.
Our hearts at times also struggle with the big picture. We struggle to see that God is working in the dark and painful places. We struggle to see our family of God for who they are…our brothers and sisters in Christ not enemies. We struggle to trust that what we cannot see is really there.
People mess up. People are imperfect. Does that give us the right to throw an adult tantrum? The in law said something hurtful. A friend did not invite you to the “ladies night out”. The pastor’s wife didn’t say hi. These instances are one piece, one piece of the 10,000 piece puzzle. Yes, they matter, however, they are not the finished product. They are not the complete work. They are not God’s big picture.
God has a plan. God has good things for those that love Him. God sees beyond our homes, towns and churches. God wants to give us what we desire. Like I wanted to give my daughter her pacifier. All in good timing, His timing.
God is preparing the food. We just need to trust that He is and be patient.
God wants to hold our hand. He does not think we are less. He holds our hands because we are more. Worth so much more. He wants to help us down the steps rather than watch us fall.
God sees the big picture. I pray we can learn to trust Him. Trust that He is good. Trust despite the hurt rather than throw an adult tantrum.
Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. ESV
1 Corinthians 12:12 The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. NLT
1 Corinthians 12:25-27 This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. NLT
Luke 12:7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. NKJV
