The last several months have been up and down for me. I think change is on the horizon. Something that my heart desires. Something that feels convenient, helpful and growing. Something that looks logical. However that something changed into another something.
The something I wanted is not the something God has for our family in this season. So life goes on. I need to adjust. To recalculate to the new something. While I am coming to the other side of accepting this new something I am seeing a growing lesson.
It may not be what I thought I wanted but it is exactly what I need.
No matter where life takes us. No matter what the season looks like. I see clearly in this moment that it is not the something but the someones. It’s the people. The people that are with me. My people. My people to love, to hold whatever the something might be.
If I live in a hut or a mansion. In town or country. One car or three. New furniture or hand me downs. Climbing up the latter in business or doing the daily grind to barely make it. The stuff doesn’t matter. It’s the people. My people.
Home isn’t an address. Home isn’t a certain job. Home isn’t an education. My home on earth is all about the people. My people God has specifically chosen for me to love, to hold.
My husband, daughters, parents, sisters, friends. These people. My people. No matter the season. No matter the weather. They are my home. My purpose. The ones I want to walk the streets of gold with. The ones I want to be with both now and in our new Home someday. The Home we were created for. The Home we are meant for.
Whatever your something is right now. Look around. Who is with you? Who are your people? The home you are investing in!
Galatians 5:13 For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. NLT
Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. ESV
Philippians 2:3-4 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. NIV
So, true. Love you. God has a perfect plan for all who know Him.
