It’s Thursday! So, I decided to do a little tbt…one of my old poems…
What if they choose someone else?
Will they break my heart?
God, vulnerability cries
What if I can’t get back up?
God, will You be there
When no one else is?
Is Your love that real?
When the world turns in disgust
Will You lift up my tear stained face?
God, when darts of rejection are thrown
will You catch each one?
Is Your love that fierce
You send Your Son
to fight my every battle?
What if they break my heart, again?
God, will I mend?
Will the wounds become scars?
Will healing begin to replace every heartache?
Is Your love that sincere?
Your presence a force to rely on?
What if they choose someone else?
What if my heart breaks?
God, I will not fear what
they can do to me…
I have a real, fierce, sincere love to rely on!
Psalm 118:6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? ESV
We may feel rejected by people from time to time. Our hearts may break, but our God is in the healing business. He holds your heart tenderly.
Thank You, God, for loving us where we are…right here, right now
Wow, love this poem. So beautiful and really speaks to my heart.
Fierce has not been an attribute of God that I have ever studied before. The dictionary defines it as very strong or intense, very harsh or powerful, very violent. I see the fierceness of God in Acts 5:1-11 where His intense hatred for sin, lying in this case by Anninas and Sapphira, ended in their quick death.
Remember Aslan in The witch, the lion, and the wardrobe. Mr. Beaver’s response to Susan about Aslan being safe, “Who said anything about safe? Course he isn’t safe. But he is good. He’s the King. I tell you.”
God’s love is much stronger and fiercer than we know. To discover its depths is the delight we devote our lives to uncovering.
