Have you ever found yourself at a place in life where you continually say phrases like “When … I will…”?
This year has felt that way to me. As I was asking the Lord what to write about this month my heart was heavy pressed. All year long even as seasons changed the phrase continued.
When the baby sleeps through the night I will have more energy and…
When my husband’s work slows down we will have time for…
When summer comes our family can…
When our girls get a little older I will be able to…
When I am no longer nursing I will have the freedom to…
You catch my phrase?
I don’t think looking ahead is a bad thing. It can be very good. However while looking ahead I often lose the present. I lose the right here. What God has for me right here and right now. The times and things I may never have again. The times to pray while up in the middle of the night with a baby. The times to hold littles completely in my arms. Times to kiss sweet cheeks. Times to be stuck inside together because there are no soccer games or dance classes. Times to be a frazzled mess at the grocery store. Times of singing “Jesus Loves Me” and “This Little Light of Mine” at the top of our lungs in the car.
While I have dreams beyond the here and now. Passed the diapers and tantrums. I am realizing God wants to use me right now. He wants me to be open. To let go of the when phrases and trust Him right now. Trust that He is doing something mighty in me even as I wipe pee off the floor. Even as a toddler kicks, screams and rolls on the floor in front of me.
God is shaping my heart every moment of every day. Sister, God is shaping your heart every moment of every day. He knows your dreams. He knows your precious heart. If your life is filled with when phrases right now I ask you to join me. Join me in letting it all fall and trusting our Potter. Trusting God is working it all out. Right here and right now.
I love you dear friend! You are priceless. You are in the mighty hand of a good, good Father!
Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. NLT
Isaiah 64:8 And yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand. NLT
