Some of us are creative chefs. Some can manage businesses with ease and comfort. Some carry endurance to run a marathon. Some can hold five babies in their arms.

Talents and gifts fill the world. God is shining His light through us. Through His humble servants that give. Servants that let talents and gifts be used, be seen.

Recently as I was driving (it seems my best thinking these days happens while driving or in the shower. Can you relate?) I was pondering the gifts and passions God has placed in my heart. I was feeling somewhat discouraged. Thoughts like, “There are already a billion women who display this talent gracefully. There are already people who serve in this capacity. Am I really needed, God?”

As these thoughts were playing through my head another thought popped in. A God thought. “How many billions of songs have been written? Are they irrelevant?” …And light bulb!

Songs that minister to my heart today are different than the ones that did ten years ago. We are a growing, changing people. Our God given gifts and talents are being molded too. They are not irrelevant or a thing of the past. No, they are now. We are now. Today, we have today. What are we doing? Are we wasting minutes wondering if we are good enough? Are we pouting under an umbrella of doubt because so and so has gift x.

I hope not. First of all, God created you…you are important, valuable and needed. Second, celebrate with so and so. Celebrate the gifts God has given both you and your neighbor.

Life is too short for us to sit and pout. And believe me, I am talking to myself first.

This world needs you. This hurting world needs Jesus. Will you let Him shine?
