Sitting with coffee at my left, music in the background. The heart a deep place. A place feeling both empty and full this morning. Empty in the waiting, waiting for God’s dierection. Full, full of His promises kept. In this day and the days past.

He is faithful. I have experienced His love and faithfulness many times in my life yet when it comes around to waiting again…I find myself wrapped in a blanket of impatience.

Similar to the waiting for a one-year-old. There is the easily distracted. The curious about all. And the slow joy of life. Lately, we have been letting our daughter turn off the light switches. She has completed the task many times now, however, she seems to get distracted, have sudden curiosity in the door and just plain forget what to do with the switch. The flesh part of me, the impatient part of me wants to flip the switch myself and move on. The mom, teacher part of me waits, waits for her sweet little body and mind to connect the dots. When I wait it out she eventually turns it off. And her little hands come together in joyful praise.

God is faithful. Even when it seems we are just staring at a light switch He is doing something. Not visible to my eyes. Not touchable with my hands yet I know He works even in the stillness.

So while I stare at this light switch again. While I wait for Him to connect the dots. I can notice the little things. Notice the door to my left. Notice its character and design. While I am waiting I can rest in patience and trust. God will connect the dots. In His timing, fulfillment will come. His will be done. Just as in the past.

The switch will turn off and we can walk on.

Be obedient in the waiting. Use this time of stillness as a time to draw nearer to your heavenly Father.

Trust, He is faithful.
