Timing. Something we think about in our life planning. When big events should happen. Merriam-Webster describes timing: the ability to select the precise moment for doing something for optimum effect.
Often I have chosen my optimum times in life. When I would finish college, get married, have a child. I thought I knew the perfect season for all these things. Timing. My timing.
Life has unfolded differently than my timing. Life has flipped and flopped in ways I never imagined. This life I am living is something more beautiful than I could have ever planned, ever timed out and ordered.
It hasn’t been easy. The waiting. The struggle of why the desires of my heart were not being fulfilled. The praying, the asking then the waiting for direction, for love. Wanting love to fill my arms yet waiting. The timing seemed all wrong. The timing was not mine. God timing. Something beautiful. Something holy and growing.
Holding love in my arms for the first time was worth the wait. It was worth God’s timing. Not finishing college like I planned. Not gripping a diploma. It hurt, it stung but I hold something greater now. I hold experiences I never dreamed of having. My heart is full of precious relationships I would not of had time for.
The flipping and flopping. The unfolding of your beautiful life. It is good. Even when it hurts. Even when you don’t understand. God does. God knows. And His timing is priceless. God’s timing is full of grace and growth beyond our imagination. God’s timing is worth the waiting.
Your life is beautiful even in the grey moments something majestic will be produced. You are not the artist. You are the artwork. And what God sees as He paints your life is beautiful, wonderfully good.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. NKJV
Psalm 139:13-14 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. ESV
Psalm 27:14 Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! ESV
Psalm 37:4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. NLT
Psalm 37:7a Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. NLT
Waiting was much harder in my younger years. Experience has taught me that trusting God is best. He may say no or wait. But His timing is perfect and His Blessings are beyond what I would ever ask for.
