We do our lives. Every morning we wake up…go to work, school, care for the kids. We are busy. Our lives are full of this and that.<\/p>\n
As Christians, we seek to please God. We think about how we need to be content, how we should “work” cheerfully. We bounce around our daily tasks, trying to keep life good, simple, carefree.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Then we go to church. We here things like, “the world<\/em> needs Jesus!” And, “We, Christians need to be Jesus to them<\/em>.” While these are good, true. How do we do Jesus<\/em>? How do we give others the opportunity to know Him?\u00a0<\/p>\n My heart struggles with this from time to time. I believe it is true. I do believe the world<\/em> needs Jesus. His love and compassion. But what does that look like? How do I behave as Jesus and show others His love?\u00a0<\/p>\n As my heart has been pondering this topic many scriptures have come to mind. This blog will hold more scripture. God’s Word speaks into this subject with clarity and light.\u00a0<\/p>\n Let the words shine in your heart…<\/p>\n Jesus went beyond society norms. He touched the “untouchables.” He had compassion, love for all.<\/p>\n The children:<\/strong>\u00a0Matthew 19:13-15\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people,<\/span>\u00a0<\/sup>but Jesus said, \u201cLet the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/sup>And he laid his hands on them and went away.<\/em> ESV<\/span><\/p>\n The leper:<\/strong>\u00a0Luke 5:13\u00a0Jesus reached out and touched him. \u201cI am willing,\u201d<\/span> he said. \u201cBe healed!\u201d<\/span> And instantly <\/em>the leprosy disappeared.<\/em> NLT<\/p>\n The crowds:<\/strong>\u00a0Matthew 9:36\u00a0When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.<\/em> ESV<\/p>\n Matthew 15:32 Now Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said, \u201cI have compassion on the <\/em>multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.\u201d<\/em> NKJV<\/p>\n Samaritan Woman:<\/strong> John 4<\/p>\n A woman dealing with death if her son:<\/strong>\u00a0Luke 7:12-14\u00a0As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the town was with her.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/sup>And when the Lord saw her,he had compassion on her and said to her, \u201cDo not weep.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/sup>Then he came up and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, <\/em>\u201cYoung man, I say to you, arise.\u201d<\/em> ESV<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Wealthy Tax collector:<\/strong> Luke 19:2, 5 There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich.\u00a0When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name.\u201cZacchaeus!\u201d<\/span> he said. <\/em>\u201cQuick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.\u201d<\/em> NLT<\/span><\/p>\n Jesus was not bound by society, culture, gender. Jesus had compassion on the world<\/em>. Jesus cared for the least to the great.\u00a0<\/p>\n As Christians, we are followers of Jesus. Spend some time today reflecting, letting God search your heart. And then in the coming days, weeks, months practice compassion. This world needs Jesus and you can be a little taste of Him. You can shine light because God shines in your heart.\u00a0<\/p>\n In the doing of life. The busy days. Ins and outs. Don’t forget about your mission field. Don’t forget that someone near you needs compassion, needs Jesus in their life.\u00a0<\/p>\n Matthew 5:16\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that\u00a0they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.<\/em> ESV<\/p>\n Colossians 3:12-15\u00a0Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts,kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,<\/span>\u00a0<\/sup>bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.<\/span>\u00a0<\/sup>And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/sup>And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.
