The bathroom door will not always fly open just because she wants to be near me. My lap won’t always feel big yet comforting. One day her little fingers will no longer touch my face in exploration. Some day she will be older. She will have a life of her own. One day my little girl won’t be crying for a banana. She will not be on my living room floor throwing arms and legs in every direction. One day our lives will look very different.

This is natural. Growing up. Moving out from our mother’s gentle and guiding arms. Part of a God designed processed. Maturing. Each blooming into their own beautiful flower.

I do look forward to watching my daughter bloom. What God has for her. Yet even in these long, draining days, I want to hold her closer…freeze the sweet moments.

While, as mothers, it is part of our job to let go I also believe holding close is sometimes needed too. Our hearts are full of both. It is in trusting God that we learn when each is needed.

Trusting God in every stage, every season of life. The ups and downs. The letting go and holding close. Believing that He ultimately has the best in mind for each and every soul.

God is our greatest teacher in motherhood.
