Metal doors, wood doors, barn doors, glass doors, sliding doors. The\u00a0number of doors we see and walk through each day is endless. Doors bring us inside, outside. Doors lead into rooms, hallways and closets. Doors guide us through a building from top to bottom. Doors keep us out or let us in.\u00a0<\/p>\n
What is all this gibberish about doors? Well, every life has a door. Every heart has a door. Some of us have let many in. Others have chosen\u00a0only a few. Some have opened their heart’s door to Jesus. Others maybe for a season and then sent Him back out. And yet others have never unlocked their door for their Saviour.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Our doors look different in every relationship. Sometimes a door is pure glass. A door that invites a relationship. Other doors are heavy metal with not even a peep hole. These doors are uninviting, cold, locked tight.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Recently I have realized\u00a0my door looks less and less like glass and more and more like metal. It’s okay to be guarded in some relationships however when it comes to God and my husband I want to have glass doors. I want God to see the depths of my heart. I want God to have full access into the heart rooms of His daughter.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Similarly, I don’t want to be a metal door before my husband. He needs to know my heart. He needs to know what hurts, what is broken inside. We cannot work together if our hearts are locked tight. We can’t have peace and clarity without glass between us.<\/p>\n
Being vulnerable is scary. Letting others see inside our messy closet is uncomfortable. Yet we are humans in need of community. Thriving from the connection our heart longs for. A metal door keeps us isolated, locked inside. Vulnerability, on the other hand, brings freedom.\u00a0<\/p>\n
No, big glass open doors are not for every relationship nevertheless\u00a0certain relationships need glass doors. Certain relationships can only grow and prosper through glass. Figure out who those relationships are for you. Ask God to open both parties hearts to glass.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Let God work in your relationships. Seek for freedom and peace. God is faithful. Even when it hurts. God is able.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I truly believe God has so much more for us than\u00a0heavy metal door relationships.\u00a0<\/p>\n
